1100 6th Street

What happened on 1100 6th Street on Tuesday night around 7:45pm? Lots of police activity.

Mayor was giving his SOTD at 6th and Eye Synagogue tonight - maybe it had to do with that?

Actually, seems like there's a fire at Miles Memorial Church at 5th and N; Commissioner Nigro is tweeting photos.

I came home at about 7:45 and spoke with the police and firemen outside my house, who told me it was a fire at the church at 5th and N. Walked over there and there were flames coming from the roof. I was very impressed with how quickly the firemen put it all out though!

Last night was a busy one for the neighborhood, but what happened on 6th Street NW between L and M? This was north of the SOTD, 6th Street NW was blocked off by police cruisers, fire fighters responded and an ambulance came to the scene with a stretcher. From a distance, it appeared that a silver sedan was involved, and police broke a window and opened a door. I'm still unclear about why so much effort was called upon. I probably should have asked more questions of responding officers, but I didn't want to get in the way of people doing their jobs.
