Just wanted to save people a few $10 bills in case they weren't aware the parking restrictions appear to be back in effect from the winter. For some reason I thought we'd be notified, but I guess the ticket does the job as far as letting me know they are back out and checking. On a personal note, it would have been nice to have received a warning instead of a ticket and a request for a tow when parked in front of my own house.

Listserv notifications started going out on 3/2 notifying residents that they were going back in effect and it was in the Post as well. There is also a 1 week "grace period" before they start the ticketing process. If you aren't on the MPD-3D or MPD-1D Yahoo groups, I'd suggest that you join so you see these types of notifications.

I guess my problem with it is on the dc.gov website where I read they wouldn't be ticketing (http://newsroom.dc.gov/show.aspx/agency/dpw/section/2/release/18532/year/2009) they said, "Residents and business owners will be notified when street sweeping resumes again in the spring of 2010."
I don't subscribe to the Post and although I am a member of the listserv I check it at infrequent intervals, usually to see what is happening with the ANC.
If DC is saying they will notify residents, they should do just that. Not make me proactively find where they posted it. Give me a notice on my door so I have been "notified". Otherwise in their original web post, they should have said "residents and business owners will be notified VIA LISTSERV AND WASHINGTON POST when street sweeping resumes again in the spring of 2010." It mislead me into a false sense of parking confidence, and now I have to pay the price.

RobA, I am on the neighborhood listserv, not the MPD yahoo groups. Thank you for the advice.

Cyrus, I would also recommend that you join the MVSNA Yahoo Group as well as the Shawneighborhood group.
The street cleaning notice was posted to the Shawneighborhood list on 3/2 - it was missed however on the MVSNA list.

it was posted on the MVSNA yahoo group calendar and 2 reminders went out ;) I know we all get a crapload of emails but it does help to go into your settings and select "Daily Digest" so that you will get 1 email per day. Then you can easily skim what you want to read.
