Speed Bumps

Does any know the process for requesting speed bumps for Ridge St. Ridge St. is surrounded by other streets with speed bumps and because of this traffic flow has increased and it is getting dangerous. This is a small two way street with parking on both sides. I have seen and experienced the dangerous speeds some cars are going. There have been instances of cars thinking they have the right of way and there is going to be an accident or a fight soon. As it is cars are getting sideswiped and mirrors are gettin knocked off.

Go to the DC Gov't website and download the Traffic Calmness Giudelines. You must gather signatures of 75% of the residents of the block that the speed bumps/ humps to be constructed. Then your ANC / rep must sign off before submiiting to DDOT.

I would be all for this. I know that some neighbors have expressed concern about speedbumps because cars slow down, then speed right up afterwards, but I am really concerned about the safety of the families on the street. Plus the other "feline" residents of our neighborhood are also at risk by these speeders.

Pat: If you can find the guidelines, I will be happy to coordinate getting signatures for this from the residents of the street.

Not really as they just POPED up one day on 400 Block of O Street. No Owners were communicated about it. I it is amazing that some renters/non tax payers can pull this off. Its DC I guess anything or nothing can happen. Question is who you know or whose ear you are whispering... Oh and of course if you are an old-timer you get whatever you want....
