460 Ridge Street

There is an article in today's Examiner documenting the history of neglect of 460 Ridge Street NW, including the DC government's allowing the building to collapse, then removing the rubble only to let the vacant lot further deteriorate.
A few questions from a reporter spurred quick action. This morning, as readers skimmed the newspaper on their morning commute, two DC Housing trucks and three government employees were onsite, removing the overgrown weeds and trash.

cp gives love: "Fun to see Cary Silverman and Jack Evans quoted in the same article again." ;)

In 1940 460 Ridge Street was assessed at $2,030, and was described as: "1 2 story attached brick, 7 rooms; no improvements except water in kitchen; old and in poor condition." The monthly rental was $30, but was $52 from the roomers. The structure held 5 families, totalling 17 persons.
Maybe the building was tired.
