Dear Community Resident or Business Proprietor: The Washington Convention Center Authority (WCCA) Advisory Committee Public Safety Subcommittee encourages residents and business owners in the area surrounding the Walter E. Washington Convention Center to attend the inaugural security briefing scheduled, as follows: Metropolitan Police Department - Patrol Service Area 308 “U.S. Secret Service & MPD Inaugural Briefing” Thursday January 8, 2009 6:30 pm ~~~ Walter E. Washington Convention Center Meeting Room 102A/B This meeting is an opportunity for you to learn about potential temporary changes to vehicular and pedestrian traffic circulation, security checkpoints and other public safety measures that will be in place on, before and/or after January 20th. If you are unable to attend, please feel free to forward your input to Theresa DuBois, WCCA External Affairs Manager and Liaison to the WCCA Advisory Committee, at tdubois@dcconvention.com. Your comments will be forwarded to U.S. Secret Service for their consideration and response. We appreciate your cooperation, welcome any feedback that you may have and look forward to seeing you on the 8th. Thanks for posting. The areas that will be closed to traffic keep changing but the last update was south of mass from 6th to the Capitol, south of K from the Convention Center to 23rd + everything a block out around the Convention Center will be closed for a day & 1/2. We shall be sure to post concrete info following thursday's meeting & community is encouraged to attend. Also when you plan to move your car outside of the zone (parking will be restricted) pay close attention to the parking zone signs. You don't want to get ticketed for parking in zone 6 when you have a zone 2 sticker & vice versa. Stake out your spot before visitors arrive & remember - there is no street cleaning, its suspended for winter.

The Washington Post is now reporting that while this meeting is still a go, the secret service will not participate.
