HP approved the razing of 1209 4th Street NW. Sad news for this long neglected 150 yr old junker but shes beyond saving. Demolition by neglect at its finest... I just glad there is a new owner.

1209 4TH ST NW by you.

brendan thanks for the clarification and correspondance. If this house can be saved that would be wonderful! we have so few civil war era wood frame houses left.

Just curious, aren't most of the wood frame houses on Ridge Street from the Civil War era? I believe that the city changed its building codes in the 1870s to all brick, so therefore would think that the older wood frame houses on Ridge pre-date that. Just curious as I am in one of them and still haven't been able to figure out how old my house is.

Thats correct, anything wood frame is pre-1870. after that masonry was mandated. (also i think projecting bays were allowed starting 1883?) check some of the historic surveys we have stored online:

Ive got a wood frame place on 4th that I have not been able to date, all i know is that its 1860s.
