It seems like Mayor Fenty and others have a million dollar private running track on Wednesday mornings at Dunbar High School
This recently renovated facility (which is supposed to be open to public use - but is typically locked up), is unlocked every Wednesday morning around 7:00 am for the Mayor's use .... and then promptly locked back up when he's done.
I had heard through various sources that he used the track for running on Wednesdays but never thought anything about it until this morning when I saw that he and his running mates had left the area and the gates were locked again.
Public facility - paid for by public funds - but available only for private use?
Anyone want to get in on his private running team? Or the Dunbar Basketball coach's private football games on Saturday or Sunday mornings? He likes to unlock the field for his friends to have a game in the mornings and chase others out of the area.

The track should be open for public use during the week and when the school is not using the field at the weekend they should rent it out. Other local jurisdictions do this and charge $120/hour. 8 hours on a Sat and Sun that could add up to almost 100k!
