Wash City Paper: Did Chief Lanier Break the Hatch Act?

Interesting article in today's City Paper Blog. Apparently the Jack Evans Campaign has used a huge photo of the councilman with Chief Lanier, even though Federal and DC employees are forbidden from participating in campaigns:

Yeah, I heard about that Evans call where he starts out saying his wife died. I didn't hear it, but some friends were laughing about how me must be getting really worried.

Oh dear, I just realized that my last comment sounds mean. Obviously it's not a laughing matter when somebody loses a loved one, but it is odd in the context of a campaign to feature such things prominently. I always thought it was weird the way that John Edwards talked about the death of his son, and I was some time supporter of Edwards.

what with evans guy being so defensive there must be something to the charges. evans campaigns are all sleazy. from the first one through and including this one. seems like a pathology to me.

how can silverman be a republican he had a fenty yard sign and evans...he had a loser cropp sign?

I'm starting to remember jacks first campaign....there were a lot of chicken dinners and turkey give aways back then and also his opponent was a gay guy, there was a cartoon flyer that made the rounds depicting evans opponent, who was white running after black guys for their sex organs.

evans campaigns are always the first to throw mud.
