I've just sent an e-mail to our DC Councilman's (Tommy Wells) office.
I am requesting assistance from your office with the noise level and late night loitering in the parking lot of Museum Square at 401 K St. NW, Washington, DC 20001.
People congregate on the benches under the shelters in the parking lot in the rear of the building every night until about 3AM. The crowd can range in size from 5-15 and often include children (there was a toddler around 3 or 4 years old, crying from 2-3 AM and wandering the parking lot last night - while an adult just stood there with the child's stroller under the shelter talking with their friends, ignoring the child). There are also a number of teenagers that loiter in the same location, shouting and running around the parking lot.
It's very disrespectful to those that are trying to sleep & it's most definitely disturbing the peace.
As there are recent reports for muggings in this neighborhood, recent vandalism to the building in which I reside (someone shot BBs into the windows of 3 of retail spaces last Saturday night), prostitution & harassment reports of residents by groups of individuals - I would like to request an increase in police presence and more frequent patrols of the area spanning between 4th to 6th and NY Ave to Mass Ave. With a lot of new residents moving into the neighborhood, it would be great if the MPD could help us feel a bit more secure.

I'm not sure re: HR Crawford's company - I'm new to the neighborhood. Maybe I'll find out who the mgt. co. is & make lodge a complaint.
I've also contacted the police dpt. and requested an increase in police presence (told I should see it in 2-3 days).
As courteous and helpful as the 1st district was on the phone, I hope they're equally as responsive in action.
I was told that all I had to do was call and request that the MPD "clear the block" and that they would respond to anyone loitering. Juveniles could face a juvinile charge if they're out after curfew.

The eleven different types of bulbs on every floor especially adds to its charm.
The management company needs to do a better job... I mean, actually do their job in keeping this property up. It's an eyesore and generally disgusting.

FYI,
Child & Family Services stated that since adults were present, that it is a police matter.
In addition, I called Museum Square and it was suggested that I write a letter to the manager:
Ms. Hallmark
Property Manager
401 K St. NW
Washington, DC 20001
If anyone else has any complaints, please call 311 as well as the 1st district. Should you find the time, write a letter (I know I will) to Ms. Hallmark and ask her to help make our neighborhood a more respectable place to live by requesting (at least) that the noise in their parking lot be kept down after 11pm.

My unit backs up to this building, and yes it does get load and out of control at all hours, by all people. The mang't company does need to do a better job at maintaining it. When I first bought the CV Sales team said that they were not renewing leases, does anyone have any more info on that? I understand that this is city living with a diverse neighborhood, but the mang't of that building needs to do something about the building and the She-Males that are hanging out on their property

# 9: According to an article written about the area in April (http://americanobserver.net/2008/04/23/vernon/), Museum Square recently renewed its contract until October 2008.

that place is a disaster. i can't belive it passes safety inspections. it's not the tenants fault the management company and owners are greedy SOB's who dont care about the condition of their properties. somebody must be getting bribed for a firetrap like that to pass safety inspections.
