Be a Bike Cop for a Day: Thurs., May 8

Well, not exactly... but it got your attention - and this should be an interesting, productive, and fun event.  On Thursday, May 8, from 6-7pm, Metropolitan Police Officer James Hoban has invited us to join him for a Safety Bike Ride around Police Service Area 101.  Meet in the driveway of 555 Massachusetts Avenue NW at 6pm.  You can also learn more about crime and safety in Police Service Area 101 by attending their monthly meetings at the Golden Rule Plaza, 1050 New Jersey Avenue NW.  Meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month starting at 7pm.  PSA 101 cover "The Chimney" portion of MVSNA (above New York Avenue between Kirby and 4th Street south of N) and the Triangle area (as well as Chinatown, Downtown as far West as 17th Street, and eastward through Capitol Hill -- i.e. in needs to be redistricted to strengthen community policing - a topic for another day).  [map]

Those of you in the MPD's Third District - don't feel left out.  Lt. Pate (PSA 308) is, on the same day, hosting a Community Safety Walk.  Meet Lt. Pate at the Kennedy Recreation Center at 6:30pm.  PSA 308 covers the area running from New Jersey Avenue to 9th Street and from New York Avenue up to S Street NW.  [map]  PSA 308 meets on the second Thursday of each month at 6:30pm at the Kennedy Recreation Center.
