Wagtime

Has anyone used Wagtime for daycare or boarding? I stumbled across it this weekend, went in to purchase some doggy stuff (how cute is their little store!) and had a conversation with a great young lady. just curious what the neighbors think!

I use Dogs By Day (on 14th) and my dogs absolutely love it there. I've had nothing but good experiences with the establishment and staff. I can't say "Doggy Day Care" without getting them all excited.

With regard to Wagtime, I've heard mixed reviews of it and there was a blog set up at one point to discuss some issues with the business.

I have used wagtime several times. It is sort of a strange place in that sometimes they let the boarded dogs roam the store part in front during the day. My pups seem to like it. I have also used Dogs by Day in the past-I had no problems there either.

I especially like wagtime because I can buy my dogs' natural food without trecking up to greenpets on 14th street.

Just the small boarding dogs and small daycare dogs that play happily and don't cause too much of a ruckus hang out in the front. Why is that weird?

Used to use their cat sitting service where they have a guy come out and look in on your cats. However, last time they closed one of our cats in a closet for what we think was about 30 hrs. Needless to say, said cat was not happy and neither were we when we came home to find the cat trapped and crying. The kicker was when we called asking for an explanation and they didn't really give us one, tried to downplay it and we didn't even get an apology. Not sure about their dog-sitting service, but given our experience I won't be using their services again.

I used to occasionally buy dog food there, until I found that their supply of the kind my dog eats is unreliable and Green Pets always has her food.

I was a bit put off by the fact that they have dogs just running around in the store. It would be very easy for a dog to get out and run out into the street if a customer were careless. That's very unprofessional, and I would never leave my dog there. Dogs by Day is great, so that's who I used for day care. And it's right next door to Green Pets as an added bonus.

I used them a few times for cat sitting and was extremely disappointed. They were so disorganized and unprofessional that I was never sure that they would remember to come over. After a bad experience I also tried to get an explanation and couldnt get one from them. Ive refused to use them since. Not sure how their dog services are though.

Do not use wagtime! I have used them, and I was sorely disappointed. After a brief stay there my dog got kennel cough, which I understand can happen anywhere. But, as my dog is generally inside dog (very small and pad-trained), I knew that it came from there. So, I called them just to let them know and they yelled at me and told me that I was a liar. Since then I have heard many horror stories, but luckily have not experienced any personally.

(I switched to using an independant dog walker, Shady Springs, and Dogs by Day, depending on the circumstances, and I have nothing but wonderful things to say about each of those.)

Wagtime was literally chased out of their former location in Logan Circle by its neighbors. The complaints were primarily not-good-neighbor/professionalism related (I'm not surprised at lackadaisi's story), and I've also heard several horror stories of escapes/serious injuries. I've used Dogs-by-Day before Wagtime arrived and continue to use them occasionally for 8 years.

Richard, Wagtime has two former locations since their current one - one was the location on Q Street.

Wagtime is great. Dogs will not escape...everytime I have gone to buy food, an employee makes sure this will not happen. The primary door is down a set of stairs from the store floor and a secondary door is in place to prevent this. They let small dogs run around the store b/c they are playing. I would prefer my small dog to be free rather than being locked up in a large room with large dogs. It's a cageless facility, what do you expect. In my experience with Dogs by Day, small dogs are grouped with large dogs and the small dogs cower when mixed with these large dogs. Also, I do not believe supervision at Dogs by Day is adequate. At Wagtime, the front person is ALWAYS with/playing with the dogs and someone is on the back 24/7 with the large dogs. I love Wagtime. My dog loves Wagtime. Our neighborhood should be encouraging local business not driving it away.

Sorry MC, but I know some of the former employees at Wagtime and I wouldn't trust them to watch the ants that get inside my house much less my dog (large or small)
