Central Safe & Lock

Some good news from the Blagden Alley Association newsletter.  Central Safe & Lock, which is currently located at 1104 9th Street NW and is scheduled to close in May, has found a new location over on what BAA refers to as "The Far Side" (our side of the Convention Center).  It will relocated to one of the spaces Seventh and L (presumably one of the vacant commercial properties on the 1100 Block of Seventh Street).  Earlier rumors of the move had the company relocating to Northeast or Southeast. 

Central Safe & Lock is a survivor.  They have been in business for nearly sixty years.  It was one of the very few businesses that survived on the 7th and 9th Street corridors after construction of the Convention Center cut off pedestrian access.  The business will be moving to 7th Street to make way for the Convention Center hotel and was one of the last holdouts to sell.  We are glad to keep this long-time business in the neighborhood -- if you ask around town where to get a special lock or key, they'll tell you this is the place.
