Good Libations 1201 5th StNW. 202.346.1006
Trevor Jones Virgin Chardonnay – Trevor Jones is one of the premier winemaker in the Southern Hemisphere. The Virgin Chardonnay showcases his effort to create a crisp wine driven by fruit character rather than the complexity of the barrel. Cool breezes create a climate in which Chardonnay flourishes and the stainless steel fermentation allows this to be the truest of expressions. The nose is undeniably Chardonnay, but on the palate green apple tones up front lead to crisp almost citrus notes on the dry finish.
Borsao Rose 2005 – From Campo de Borja Spain comes this fantastic Grenache rose. Campo de Borja is steep rugged terrain known for lush bush vine Garnacha (Grenache). This wine represents early harvesting of the grape leading to higher acidity and lower sugar content. The result is a mineral driven rose, crisp and dry on the palate, with slight berry tones (though more on the nose than in taste). This is a FANTASTIC barbeque wine, and will also pair well with spicy cuisine. Think Cherry Blossom Festival, and think of this wine!
Juan Gil Wrongo Dongo – You can’t go wrong-o with Wrongo Dongo. From the famed Juan Gil family of wines, comes this fun package, and extraordinary value from Jumilla. The grape varietal is Monastrell (known outside of Jumilla as Mourvedre) and combines great earthy tones and tobacco with subtle plum and dark berry flavors. This wine scored an 87 from Robert Parkers Wine Advocate but tastes MUCH stronger than it’s score. It won’t disappoint!
