the latest at 4th and L NW

tonight i went down 4th street to do some business near kingman park(oklahoma and benning road ne) neighborhood.  as i passed 4th and L i recognized McKenna mobile feeding station located on private property that happens to be own by the taxpayers. i was wondering what happened to that truck.  they moved it to the tranny hooker turf under the windows of Museum Square Apartments.  SOME has SOME nerve.

Do you even re-read your posts before hitting submit? This one is very incoherent.

I agree. No idea what you're talking about here. What feeding station? What truck? What is SOME and why do they have nerve?

SOME = So Others Might Eat

Per their website, they are "an interfaith, community-based organization that exists to help the poor and homeless of our nation's capital. We meet the immediate daily needs of the people we serve with food, clothing, and health care. We help break the cycle of homelessness by offering services, such as affordable housing, job training, addiction treatment, and counseling, to the poor, the elderly and individuals with mental illness. Each day, SOME is restoring hope and dignity one person at a time. We invite you to join us."

Those of us you live in close proximity to their O Street location have a different opinion of them and the way the neighborhoods are left after their meal services.

Thanks for clearing that up - I now know what he is talking about. I happen to agree. It's one of those things that probably has good intentions but also has negative side effects that aren't adequately addressed.

We saw this truck the other day when we were walking to check out our new condo at Yale. I had a bit of a different opinion of the area. There was something shady about this set-up.

Last night (Sunday 11/9/2008 at 7:00 pm), the mobile feeding truck had planted itself in the middle of the parking lot on the southside of K Street at 4th across from the Museum Square apartments. It stayed there until a little after 8 last night.

To make things even worse, the rightmost eastbound lane of K Street was blocked last night with vans and trucks just sitting in the lane with their blinkers flashing. Not moving when the light changed and in some places blocking the entire eastbound lane near 5th Street. They were blocking access to the parking spaces along K Street as well as entry into the parking lots there. Every so often they would move up only to be replaced by more vans/trucks. At one point, the traffic tie-ups extended on to 5th Street in front of Busboys and Poets.

I've asked MPD for an explanation. I called 911 to report it and two units respopnded but nothing was done to alleviate the line of "parked" vehicles.
