This is a very good service but if you pay for text messages, beware. AlertDC sends messages to the MVSNA yahoo group and there can be a ton of them. A storm or a bad car accident will generate 2-4 messages, we get something just about every day. Sometimes its for stuff on the beltway not even in DC. (We delete the messages that have nothing to do with our area). So it may be more cost effective to sign up for email updates depending on what your mobile plan is.
