Grand Opening for The V Apartments at City Vista

The V Apartments at City Vista will have their grand opening this Saturday from 10:00-5:00.

I found the website for these new apartments (www.thevapartments.com). It mostly consists of Coming Soon links.

Although the website is COMING SOON, you can still access the half-baked content:

I find this interesting:

Gallery Place is next door for easy evenings at Clyde’s or catching a Wizards, Mystics or Capitals game at the adjoining Verizon Center.

Hmmm, I have lived in the Mt. Vernon Square neighborhood for several years now, and actually used to work for Akridge, one of the developers of Gallery Place, and from what I recall, Gallery Place is at 7th and H and City Vista is at 5th and K, not exactly "next door." And the "adjoining" Verizon Center - what is up with that? I wonder if they pulled language from another development closer to Gallery Place and didn't realize it says these things.

Doesn't Clydes adjoin the Verizon Center? I think that's what they meant rather than saying City Vista adjoins the Verizon Center. Not well written though...

They're offering two months free, which is pretty typical for new apartments in DC during initial leasing.

Rents seem to be in line with new luxury apts in Logan/Thomas Circle. Which is to say, high...

Just called to get some info ... they do allow pets ... up to 2 dogs - no weight limit but do have some restrictions on breeds.

After looking at the web site and being impressed by the 3 bedroom penthouses with patio and balcony, I was nosy and asked about the rent for those ..... $7025/mo.

That corner penthouse has a nice view and a decent shared roof deck. That's it. It's a little over 1,900 square feet and has dual zone HVAC (one for the loft). The hardwood is average and the carpet in the bedrooms and loft is the lowest grade olefin contractor-grade out there. The appliances and kitchen cabinets leave quite a bit to be desired. Wouldn't it make sense for a unit that leases for over $7,000 a month to have upgraded appliances?!? And not just the same bottom-of-the-line appliances that were on closeout at the contractor's yard? And don't get me started on the kitchen drawers that just SLAM shut and sometimes bounce back open. Even Ikea has better quality kitchens!

The unit is not worth over $7,000. It is probably worth more like $4,500. But, I'm sure some idiot will lease it.

Go take a look at it. Also take a look at the penthouse next door, which leases for a more down to Earth price of $3,550.

The smallest units (under 500 square feet) start around $1,500.

The funny thing is when I called, I just asked about the lease prices in general for the penthouse 3 bedroom units - the agent on the phone lead me to believe that $7K was the going price for the 3 bedroom units. At twice the price for a 2 bedroom, I'd have to be an idiot to take one at that price.

I think the mystery/confusion has been solved. My partner went by today and visited the Sales Office and was told that there was only one (1) 3 bedroom 3 bath penthouse unit - all the others are 2 bedroom penthouse units.
